August 27: Survey Among Teens Shows Avril Is A Fashion Icon
In a nationwide survey of 2,000 teen shoppers, General Growth Properties, one of the country's largest shopping center owners, has released its Top 10 list of fashionable celebrities teenagers will be dressing like this back-to- school season. Avril took the #3 spot, following Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez.

August 26: Avril Records A Christmas Song
Avril and fellow Canadian Chantal Kreviazuk have recorded "O Holy Night" for the upcoming holiday album Maybe This Christmas, Too. Other tracks slated for the album, due November 14, includes the Used's "Alone This Holiday," the Flaming Lips' "Winter Wonderland," Guster's "Donde Esta Santa Claus?," Badly Drawn Boy's "Donna & Blitzen," the Polyphonic Spree's "Winter Wonderslumber," and Eisley's "The Winter Song."

August 26: "Losing Grip" Receives "Network Priority" on MTV Europe
Avril's video for "Losing Grip" has recently received "network priority status" on MTV's European networks. This decision means that the video will be shown at least fourteen times a week on all of MTV Europe's ten separate channels, including MTV Nordic. The priority status is significant, as MTV Europe can be viewed in 107 million households across the continent.

August 26: MTVicon To Air Again

August 26: "Nobody's Fool" To Be Avril's Fifth Single?

August 25: Avril Turns Her Attention To Her Sophomore Record
Avril took some time out of her day to discuss her future plans with Rolling Stone magazine. Finally finished with her world tour behind her platinum 2002 debut Let Go, Avril is turning her attention to her next studio album. "I think I've really come along in my songwriting," Lavigne says. "I really believe in myself, and I'm going to make a record that really comes from inside, from my feelings. I've had time to grow and become a better writer, a better guitar player, and I've learned more about studio work." Asked if she felt the pressure of following up the success of 2002's Let Go, Lavigne replied, "No, not at all. This past year I acheived things I didn't think were possible. I know that even if the next record bombs, I'll still have that and I'll still go down in the history books. It'll be like Madonna, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and then Avril Lavigne," she laughs. "I don't think it'll bomb though. I feel so strongly in what I'm writing right now."

August 13: Avril Blocks Online Sale of Her Ex-Boyfriend's Love Letters
Pop star Avril Lavigne has thwarted an ex-boyfriend's get-rich-quick scheme by blocking the internet sale of her old loveletters. Ex-boyfriend Blake Thompson put the letters Avril wrote him on auction site eBAY, offering them at a starting bid of $500. Thompson claimed the love letters went on "to inspire Avril to what she has become today". eBay bosses have been forced to pull the letters from sale after a complaint that any auctioning of them violated Lavigne's intellectual property rights.

August 13: Avril To Present At This Year's VMA's
The list of presenters for this year's MTV Video Music Awards has just been announced and we're happy to let you know that Avril is scheduled to present. The awards air August 28 at 8 p.m. ET. MTV will also be presenting pre-show coverage beginning at 6:30 p.m. ET, which will feature candid footage and interviews with the stars.
